So many of us move through the day at full speed—going from one responsibility to the next without pausing to check in with ourselves. Maybe you’ve noticed that certain thoughts, emotions, or reactions come up again and again. In Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, we call these “parts.”
Each part has a role it plays in your system. Some protect you, some manage daily life, and some carry old hurts. None of them are bad. In fact, most of these parts developed when you were younger as ways to help you survive, cope, and keep going. The challenge is that over time, those same strategies can feel overwhelming, stop feeling helpful, or even work against you.
That’s where this IFS meditation comes in.
When you slow down and listen to your inner world, you create space for self-compassion and self-understanding. Instead of fighting yourself or wishing your parts weren’t there, you can get to know them. Spending time with your parts helps you:
This simple practice can be a powerful way to begin deepening your own healing journey.
In this guided meditation, I’ll gently lead you to:
You don’t have to force anything, fix anything, or make your parts go away. The goal is simply to spend time with them, the same way you might sit with a friend who needs to be heard.
This meditation is for anyone—whether you’re brand new to IFS or have been practicing it for years. If you’ve ever felt stuck in cycles of anxiety, self-criticism, or overwhelm, spending intentional time with your parts can help you understand why those patterns show up and begin to gain space from them.
Therapists may also find this meditation helpful for their own self-practice, especially before or after sessions.
I invite you to pause, take a breath, and listen in.
Spending just a few minutes with your parts can shift how you move through the rest of your day.

What is an IFS meditation?
An IFS meditation is a guided practice based on Internal Family Systems therapy. It helps you pause, connect with your inner world, and spend time with your parts in a compassionate and curious way. The goal isn’t to get rid of parts or us that we don’t like, but rather to build a relationship with them.
Why should I spend time with my parts?
Your unique parts developed to protect you and help you navigate tricky situations and relationships, especially during childhood. Spending time with them helps you see their intentions, understand their impact, and offer compassion. This practice can reduce anxiety, self-criticism, and overwhelm while strengthening your connection to yourself. Many of my clients in Flower Mound, Coppell, Irving, and Grapevine, TX find that meditations like this one help them carry their therapy work into everyday life.
Who can benefit from an IFS meditation?
Anyone can benefit—from people completely new to IFS to those already in therapy or training. It’s especially helpful if you feel stuck in old patterns, have a loud inner critic, or carry heavy emotions. Therapists may also use it as a grounding practice for themselves. If you’re looking for IFS therapy or EMDR + IFS support in the Flower Mound, Coppell, Irving, or Grapevine area, this meditation is a good place to start connecting with your parts.
