If you have found yourself thinking, I want to learn IFS, but I am unsure where to begin—or how to deepen my practice, this IFS Training for Therapists offers a meaningful place to start.
Perhaps you are newly exploring Internal Family Systems (IFS). Or perhaps you have studied the model extensively yet still find yourself hesitant to fully trust your ability to apply it in client sessions.
For many therapists, one of the most challenging aspects of developing competency in IFS is recognizing the extent to which our own parts can become activated in the therapeutic process.
A part may be striving to do the work “correctly.”
Another part may be monitoring the time and wondering whether enough progress is being made.
A part may identify a solution and feel compelled to guide the client toward it.
These experiences are not signs of inadequacy; they are natural expressions of our own internal systems. At the same time, they coexist with our clinical judgment, training, and therapeutic intention.
Developing as an IFS practitioner requires more than expanding your intellectual understanding of the model. It involves learning how to recognize and work with our own parts while remaining present to the client’s experience. Rather than seeking additional information alone, therapists benefit from opportunities to cultivate the capacity to be with parts—both their clients’ and their own—in real therapeutic settings.
This is the work that experiential IFS training is designed to support.
IFS Foundations Lab is a live, affordable Internal Family Systems (IFS) training program designed for therapists, associates, students, and mental health professionals who want practical experience using IFS in real clinical sessions. Through live training, consultation, skills practice, and CE credits, clinicians learn how to confidently apply Internal Family Systems therapy beyond theory and into practice.
IFS is fundamentally an experiential model. While its concepts can be studied intellectually, genuine competence develops through direct experience, consistent practice, and the opportunity to engage in the work within a supportive learning environment. Equally important, effective IFS training is facilitated by instructors who are attuned to the unique pace and needs of each therapist’s system.
Most therapists recognize that reading about IFS is not equivalent to experiencing it firsthand. You may complete trainings, study the literature extensively, and develop a strong conceptual understanding of the model. Yet when faced with the complexity of a live client encounter, that intellectual knowledge can feel surprisingly difficult to apply. This experience is not a lack of ability. Rather, it reflects the natural distinction between understanding a model cognitively and embodying it in practice.
Developing proficiency in IFS requires more than theoretical knowledge; it requires experiential learning. Through direct participation, guided practice, and personal engagement with the model, clinicians begin to internalize the principles of IFS and cultivate the confidence and skill necessary to apply them effectively in therapeutic settings. This is where the IFS Foundations Lab comes in. IFS Training for Therapists, developed by an IFS Therapist.
The IFS Foundations Lab was built around one core belief: deep, lasting clinical skill comes from experience — not information. Every element of this training is designed with that in mind.
Live Training Days. Four full-day live sessions (9am–2pm CST) that go deep into the IFS model — not just what it is, but how to actually work with it in session. Every session is interactive, responsive, and paced for real integration.
Practice Skills Groups. Four one-hour live practice skills groups between training days — where you bring real cases from your clinical work, practice what you’re developing, and receive direct feedback. This is where the learning becomes embodied.
Continuing Education Credits. Earn 22 CE credits toward your license renewal — fully included in the cost of enrollment, with no additional fees or forms to navigate.
Knowable Cohort. The small group format means you’ll genuinely know the people you’re learning with — and that sense of safety is part of what makes the real experiential work possible.
This is not a training designed for passive observation or intellectual consumption alone.
While many trainings focus primarily on teaching the concepts and structure of the IFS model, this live and accessible program integrates comprehensive instruction with intentional experiential practice. As a result, therapists move beyond simply acquiring information and begin developing the embodied understanding necessary to apply the model effectively in clinical work.
Rather than accumulating theoretical knowledge, therapists cultivate the felt sense, confidence, and integrated skills that enable them to navigate sessions with greater clarity and competence. Through experiential IFS training, the model becomes more than something you understand intellectually—it becomes something you can reliably access and utilize in practice.
My goal isn’t to teach you to do therapy the way I do it. It’s to help you find your own grounded, parts-informed path — one that feels natural to who you are as a clinician.
Hi, I’m Laura Beaver, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas with over 17 years in the field — and IFS genuinely changed my life, both personally and as a clinician. I have completed IFS Level 2 training through the IFS Institute. This means I bring a deep, structured foundation in the model to everything I teach. I know what it feels like to understand IFS intellectually but struggle to find it in session. That gap is exactly what this lab was built to close.
Before private practice I spent eight years as a full-time professor and still teach as an adjunct. I bring that same love of education to every training I lead, with one important difference. I’m not here to fill you with content. Instead, I’m here to create an experience that changes how you work.
I won’t teach you to do therapy the way I do it. I’ll help you find your own path. And even better, at a pace that honors your system and builds confidence that lasts long after the lab ends.
